Generality of the Elagnus plant:
The Eleagnus x Ebbingei plant is a hybrid with oval green and yellow or only green leaves, 8-10 cm large, with cream-white flowers that bloom in autumn and red, fleshy and edible fruits. Eleagnus x Ebbingei is a rustic plant, like all Olivagni, and can resist up to a temperature of - 15 °. It is possible to combine different species of Olivagno, to create shades of different colors and combine the beauty of a plant like this with the usefulness of a windproof, anti-smog and privacy protection barrier. Eleagnus is an evergreen or deciduous shrub or tree plant, resistant and widely used alone or alongside other shrub or herbaceous species to create mixed hedges. Eleagnus tolerates cold, hot and salty climates well, as well as windy places, in fact it is also suitable as a windbreak barrier. The ideal soil for this plant is fertile, not very calcareous and rich in organic material, well drained and fertilized at least once a year, in spring or autumn. The olive tree is a rustic and very adaptable species, which does not require particular maintenance, has lanceolate, smooth or fluffed leaves, dark green or silvery, and depending on the species, even small flowers and fruits of variable color. Due to its rusticity and small size (it does not exceed 4 - 5 meters in height) it does not require frequent pruning, unless you want to give it a more regular or precise shape. The habit of Eleagnus is erect or expanded, with rich and compact foliage, ideal for small or large hedgesi.
Elagnus Plant Cultivation and Care:
The Eleagnus plant is an evergreen shrub that prefers sunny locations, although it grows without problems in partial shade. The eleagnus is a plant with a rustic character and adapts very well in different environments, it does not fear the cold or even the wind; for this reason it is often used to create windbreak barriers useful for protecting gardens and terraces and creating a more comfortable environment. Thanks to its rusticity, the olive tree can be used in different places with non-optimal exposures, it will still be able to resist and develop, even if it will probably be less luxuriant. The Olivagno or Eleagnus does not need large quantities of water, usually the rains are enough; during the hottest periods, especially in the case of very young plants, water at least every week. Being a rather rustic plant it does not need too much attention and can resist even in difficult conditions; if it is grown in pots it will need a greater water supply, as it will not be able to count on the humidity present in the ground.
